What is the best season ton enjoy Favignana and the Egadi?
We’ve been trying to answer this question for over a decade, now. Every time the same answer keeps coming back to us. The best season is the one when you are there, whatever it is, and we spent a couple Christmas/New Years eve there, and also many other time all around the year.
Each have their benefits and drawbacks. For instance, while Favignana has an all-around-the-year local life, Marettimo and Levanzo are in a sort of hibernation from end of November till March. Also, many Favignana restaurants would close in winter, leaving a more limited choice for an outside meal.
Tourism peaks in Summer of course, when the sea is warm, and the Islands are swarming with activities. But then, this is when you need to book your ferry in advance and your Levanzo Grotta del Genovese visit.
Spring and Fall are a mix of all this, with beautiful weather, sea water still above swimming pool temperature until end of October, and lots of choices for activities.
As for us, we particularly enjoy Spring, when festivities take place, like the San Giuseppe or Eastern Festivals, and when our favorite restaurants start their season again, like Pakkaro, just down the house.
But also when the terrace plants start to blossom, with the air perfumed by lemon-tree flowers and bees all over the Rosemary. From this standpoint, April is the best season to enjoy the Casa dell’Ulivo terraces!

We have planted Mint and Basil for you to enjoy, the former in drinks, maybe (yes we’re talking Mojito here), the later in Sicilian salad or pasta.
PS – There is automated watering system for both terraces, but should you notice anything not working properly, please send us a message and a photo.
